Indulge in the ultimate seafood delight with these classic shrimp rolls, featuring juicy shrimp tossed in a creamy dressing and served in soft, buttery rolls.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 New England-style hot dog buns
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes until pink and opaque.
  2. Drain the shrimp and transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, chop the shrimp into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, chopped celery, chopped red onion, salt, and pepper.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped shrimp into the mayonnaise mixture until well combined.
  5. Butter the outside of the hot dog buns and toast them in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown.
  6. Fill each toasted bun with the shrimp mixture, and sprinkle with chopped chives if desired.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious shrimp rolls!

Notes

  • Feel free to add diced avocado for a creamier texture.
  • For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the shrimp mixture.
  • These shrimp rolls can be made ahead of time; just keep the filling refrigerated and assemble just before serving.
