Deliciously cheesy and loaded with toppings, these tater tot nachos are a crowd-pleasing twist on a classic favorite, perfect for game day or a fun family dinner.

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 6 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 32 oz frozen tater tots
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 jalapeño, sliced
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 avocado, diced
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Drain excess fat and stir in the taco seasoning. Follow the package instructions for preparing the seasoning, typically adding water and simmering for a few minutes.
  4. While the meat is cooking, spread the frozen tater tots evenly in a large casserole dish.
  5. Bake the tater tots in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until they start to become crispy.
  6. Remove the casserole dish from the oven and layer the seasoned meat over the tater tots.
  7. Sprinkle the black beans, diced tomatoes, jalapeño slices, and both types of cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Once baked, remove from the oven and top with sliced green onions, diced avocado, and a dollop of sour cream.
  10. Serve immediately and enjoy your loaded tater tot nachos!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, substitute the meat with sautéed bell peppers and onions.
  • You can add other toppings like olives, corn, or salsa based on your preference.
  • Make sure to let the nachos cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth on the hot cheese!
