Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
- 1 cup caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the crust.
- Evenly spread the diced apples over the crust.
- Drizzle 1 cup of caramel sauce over the apples.
- Top with the remaining oat mixture, crumbling it over the caramel and apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow the bars to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before drizzling with extra caramel sauce and sprinkling with sea salt.
- Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the dry ingredients.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- Consider using Granny Smith apples for a tart contrast to the sweetness of the caramel.
