These French Onion Beef Sliders combine savory caramelized onions with tender beef and melty cheese, all nestled in soft slider buns, making them the perfect crowd-pleasing appetizer.

  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 4 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces provolone cheese, sliced
  • 12 slider buns
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and caramelized, about 25-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Once the onions are caramelized, add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. In a separate bowl, form the ground beef into small patties, about the size of the slider buns.
  5. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat and cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  6. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty to melt.
  7. To assemble, place a beef patty with melted cheese on the bottom half of each slider bun, top with a generous spoonful of caramelized onions, and cover with the top half of the bun.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, consider adding sliced jalapeños to the sliders.
  • You can prepare the caramelized onions a day in advance to save time.
  • These sliders can be served with a side of ketchup or Dijon mustard for dipping.
