Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 8 ounces pasta (penne or fusilli)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In the same pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the canned tomatoes (with juice), chicken broth, oregano, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Reduce heat and stir in the cooked pasta, mixing well to combine.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the pasta and stir until melted and creamy.
- Serve immediately, garnished with extra cheese if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes to taste.
- You can substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or beef if preferred.
- This dish can be made ahead and reheated; just add a splash of broth to loosen the sauce.
