- 2 lbs cube steak
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 packet onion soup mix
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 1 cup carrots, chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and brown the cube steak on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and place it in the crock pot.
- Add the beef broth, onion soup mix, sliced mushrooms, onions, carrots, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt to the crock pot.
- Stir to combine all ingredients well.
- Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the steak is tender.
- Once cooked, serve hot with gravy over mashed potatoes or rice.
Notes
- For a thicker gravy, mix 1 tbsp cornstarch with 2 tbsp water and stir it into the pot during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like peas or bell peppers for variation.
