Bacon Jalapeño Popper Cheese Balls are a deliciously cheesy, spicy, and crispy appetizer perfect for any party. These bite-sized treats combine cream cheese, cheddar, crispy bacon, and jalapeños, all coated in a crunchy breading.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 24 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/4 cup jalapeños, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  4. Dredge each cheese ball in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, ensuring they are fully covered.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Carefully place the cheese balls into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Remove the cheese balls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For extra spice, use spicy jalapeños or add a dash of cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
  • These cheese balls can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just fry them directly from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the cooking time.
  • Serve with ranch dressing or a spicy dipping sauce for added flavor.
