Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, chopped
- 1/4 cup jalapeños, diced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped bacon, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
- Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one bowl, the beaten eggs in another, and the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Dredge each cheese ball in flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, ensuring they are fully covered.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully place the cheese balls into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove the cheese balls from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra spice, use spicy jalapeños or add a dash of cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
- These cheese balls can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just fry them directly from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the cooking time.
- Serve with ranch dressing or a spicy dipping sauce for added flavor.
